AWRS Inspections

Lagoon

Envirotech Engineering & Consulting, Inc., has conducted hundreds of animal waste retention structure (AWRS) inspections and certifications in the state of Oklahoma.  AWRS inspections are required by the Oklahoma CAFO Operations Act and must be conducted annually for CAFO operators to comply with their license.  Envirotech inspectors evaluate the integrity of the structure through on-site visual inspections that include the liner system (either clay or plastic), the structural integrity of the berms, the vegetation and rodent activity around the structure, as well as a review of sampling data from the leak detection monitoring wells that surround the waste retention structures.  Based on these inspections, data review, and a review of the operation and maintenance practices of the facility, Envirotech engineers licensed in the state of Oklahoma certify that the AWRS is not leaking.  These reports are then provided by the facility owner to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF).   The AWRS inspections are due annually at the end of July.
